As somebody who works in marketing communications as well as coaching, I love an acronym for helping to distill information into a memorable little word. I'm also pretty fond of a meme that shares a powerful message in a few short words.

Here's the thing though, just because a statement has been immortalised in quirky digital short-form it doesn't mean that the words are true in every moment and for everyone. Some words are for a certain season and others for a particular person in a specific moment.

“In order to pick something up, you've got to put something down.” is a great example of this. When I retrained as a coach, I fully expected to have to drop my marketing work, at least in the long run. However, I've found that I'm able to do both and so much for the better.

I get to use my different skills and the different parts of my personality through these two career strands, which is incredibly fulfilling. Plus, I find the experience I've gained in my coaching work has enriched my role as a marketer, and vice versa.

I'd encourage everyone to keep an open mind where work is concerned. Some of us work best when focusing on one role. Others of us flourish when we get to juggle more than one job. Knowing our personality types, as well as what we're good at and what we're passionate about, can be key to discovering our career path(s).

I've helped many people work out what this looks like for them and I'd love to help you too. Drop me a DM if this resonates with you.
